Whether you’re interested in living here or just looking to explore this vibrant neighborhood with your family, there is plenty to do in downtown Fargo for all ages!

Room to Play

Few things are more important for a child’s development than playtime, and there is no shortage of opportunities to do just that in downtown Fargo.

Fargo Broadway Square

Fargo Broadway Square, the neighborhood’s beloved “outdoor living room” offers opportunities to play year-round. In the summer, the Square’s splash pad is filled with kids throughout the day. In the winter, the Scheels Skating Rink is the perfect way for families to spend quality time outside, and the Square’s skate shack means you don’t need to own your own ice skates to take part.

Island Park

The oldest park in the Fargo area, Island Park is just a few minutes’ walk away from the heart of downtown. With a basketball court, tennis courts, grills, picnic tables, and a playground, this expansive green space is the perfect way to get outside. Island Park’s pool is also undergoing major renovations sure to make the area a destination for outdoor activity next year.

YMCA

The YMCA’s Fercho location, which neighbors Island Park, is another perfect place for families to spend quality time. Its long list of amenities includes an indoor pool, a gymnastics room, a kids’ gym featuring a full-blown ninja course, and short-term childcare so parents can get in their physical activity, too. There’s also extensive child-focused programming for a wide range of ages.
