Downtown Fargo Is a Book Lover’s Haven

Downtown Fargo isn’t just for those looking for an active social life. It’s also the perfect place for those who prefer to cozy up with a good book. Check out all the ways the community offers to embrace your inner book nerd.

Indie Bookstores

Zandbroz Variety

Zandbroz has been in business in downtown Fargo for more than 30 years. A family-run business, they curate a wide array of goods, including books, tea, gifts, games, and more. Their passion for books is unwavering, and they take great care in offering a selection of books with something for everyone.

More Than Words

Brand new just across the river in Moorhead, More Than Words has been a labor of love for owner Sydni Kreps. The store’s lush interior contains both new and used books as well as gifts and other hand-picked items.

Fargo Public Library

The main branch of the Fargo Public Library, a stunning building on 4th Street N, has an expansive collection of books, a plethora of free community resources, reading nooks, and even a cafe. Getting a library card is super easy, and in addition to physical library resources, it opens up a world of digital resources, from audiobooks right from your phone to language learning programs and more.

Bookish Gatherings

Silent Reading Parties

Do you ever feel like you’d like to sit down with a good read somewhere that isn’t home but feel like it’s weird? Well, silent reading parties offer a way to do that with other people who also want to read in public! The Fargo Public Library regularly partners with places like Wild Terra and Fargo Brewing to host parties that pair good books with tasty beverages. You can bring your own book or pick one up from the library’s selection!

Emma’s Book Club

A collaboration between Jasper Hotel, Zandbroz, and our very own Mari the Book Maven, Emma’s Book Club offers a low-stakes way to make bookish friends. They meet on the second Tuesday of each month to discuss their latest read, alternating between fiction and nonfiction to help folks explore new stories and flex their reading muscles.

Book Salons

Zandbroz Variety is introducing a new kind of bookish gathering this month: book salons. Hosted by book lovers in the community, they’ll be a fun way to meet fellow book readers, share in the love of reading, and learn about books you may not have heard about before.

Make this bookish neighborhood your home in a building filled with cozy reading spaces.
